I performed last night at Texas Bar and Grill. Girls started to get here at 4:30 and the concert didn’t start until 7. The decision whether or not Kidd will cut his record is only 24 hours away. Girls outside the studio this morning are holding Freddy signs and are the new Freddy street team, and they rock! The votes are up to 26,000 right now at kiddlive.com. I started my Dallas campaign by booking and promoting my own concert last night, and I am continuing to campaign around town today with a bullhorn. Around 200 people showed up last night – you can watch the video of my performance online at kiddlive.com. I was there for a long time after the show making sure I signed autographs and talked to ALL of the fans. I had a great time and the fans were the best part of the show last night!

My proposal to Kidd for my future music career endeavors is still in the works. Today the polls went up for my campaign to have Kidd and the listeners take part in taking my music career to the next level. I will help sway the voters with a MySpace bulletin and by campaigning all day at schools, business, and restaurants. I stopped by the studio this morning and started the campaign with listeners outside. I even made a presidential campaign speech to rally voters! Vote on kiddlive.com right now – it will only be up for the next 48 hours. The final results will be announced on Thursday at 7:20 AM Central Time. I also want everyone to know that I will be performing tonight at 7pm at Texas Bar and Grill, which is right next to the studio. See you there!

I have so much to tell you.

Many of you know that last week I “played my way” from Philadelphia to Dallas…a quest to get a spot on the nationally syndicated Kidd Kraddick in the Morning Show. Kidd found me on myspace, called me on the phone and said if I could get to Dallas in five days, he would let me perform on his show which is heard on something like 75 stations. We threw together the “Freddy Needs Gas Tour” and hit the road. It was the most amazing week of my life. I did concerts in places like Scranton, PA, Tuscaloosa, AL, and Baton Rouge, Louisiana. It started out with like 15 people in the audience and by the time I did the last two shows, we had HUNDREDS. I made it to Kidd’s show in time and did a special set for his listeners live on the air. There were like 400 people outside watching the performance and over a million listening across the country.

I was supposed to leave Dallas and go back to Philadelphia (where I go to school at Univ. of Penn) on Sunday. Then something very cool happened. I got a call from a big record company guy. He heard about the tour and went to Kidd’s website (kiddlive.com) and watched all the videos and listened to the music. He said he would like to offer me a contract and to come see him the minute I get home. At first, I was so excited. But then I had to ask myself if this is what I really wanted. Was this really making my dream come true or was it more like going back to the ex-girlfriend who wouldn’t stop cheating on me?

I talked to my parents for a long time. I called the friends I trust most. And the more I talked and listened to their advice, the more I realized that I didn’t want to sign with a record company, no matter how much money they offered me. The experience I had two years ago is still really fresh in my mind. But what else could I do?

That’s when I came up with what I hope to forever refer to as “THE IDEA” (like it will be the thing that changed my life forever so it deserves it’s own phrase). I want to make my whole album with Kidd Kraddick in the Morning. I want the listeners who supported me so much on the “Freddy Needs Gas Tour” to help me do it. I interned at one of the biggest record companies from the time I was fifteen. I know what they do and what it takes to make an album. Believe it or not, it’s really not that hard. The main thing a record label does is get people excited about the artist and then try to get airplay on the radio. Thanks to Kidd and his listeners, we’ve already done both. But if I can make this album on his morning show, I can bring the fans into the process like never before. You guys would help me write the songs, shoot the videos, promote the singles, and everything else that needs to be done. If we could pull this off, it would be EPIC.

I stayed in Dallas an extra day so I could talk to Kidd on Monday. (I only have one day of school left at Penn this semester and my teachers told me I could miss it.) I was so excited I could barely sleep Sunday night.

When Kidd put me on the air the next morning, I was really nervous and it took me a long time to spit out the idea, but I think he got it. He had a lot of questions like how much will it cost and how do we get the recording equipment, etc. I guess my answers were okay because he said he LOVED the idea. The whole show was on board with it. Kidd said that since the listeners would be playing such a big part in making the album, he had to make sure they were into it also. Tomorrow, there will be a voting poll on kiddlive.com. Listeners will vote, “yes, I want to help Freddy make his album” or “No, I don’t like the idea.” The poll will be up for only 24 hours. If the majority say yes, I will stay in Dallas and try to do something that’s never ever been done…that is, “break out” without a record label. If they say no, I will go back home and re-group…and to be honest, I may always wonder what else I could have done to get the votes my way.

Here’s my plea. This is the most important thing that’s ever happened in my life up to now. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE go to Kiddlive.com/freddy and vote YES! You can make one guy’s dream come true and change his life forever.

Thanks for Everything!
Freddy
